Over 170 participants from 17 countries met for three September days in Vienna for an EMBO funded workshop. The meeting was interdisciplinary and focused on molecular biology, genomics, evolution and ecology. We had excellent talks and poster presentations.
At the welcome reception local wines from Weinbau und Buschenschank Pack in Styria were served. A final reception was held at the Natural History Museum.
We got great feedback for the excellent science.
We had a Young Investigator Workshop and Patrick Forterre from Inst Pasteur held a compelling EMBO Science Policy Lecture on "How the recognition of Archaea as a third domain of life has impacted research and scientific developments - A personal recollection".
Christa Schleper and Christine Moissl-Eichinger were the main organizers the 6th Molecular Biology of Archaea: from mechanisms to ecology in Vienna and took care of making ours an certified eco-event.
Thank you also to the co-organizers Melina Kerou, Simon Rittmann and Filipa Sousa.
