Senior Scientist
at the Functional and Evolutionary Ecology

We are an international team working on the ecology and evolution of archaea and we are searching for a scientist in the field of ammonia oxidizing archaea. The candidate should have interest and experience in genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics, including the respective software and should be familiar with the general biochemistry and physiology of microorganisms. Candidates with experience in Archaea Biology will be given preference. The advertised position is a leave substitute, which is limited until 30 September 2022.

Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week

Job Description:
You will be responsible for the organisation and realisation of functional genomic analyses of archaea. The field of activity includes participation and engagement in research projects, participation in publications, scientific articles and (inter)national talks and lectures, as well as participation in teaching (tutoring, practicle courses, seminars) and supervision of master and PhD students. In addition, the willingness to acquire competitive third-party research funding is expected.

Profile:
- completed doctoral studies in biology
- experience in biofermentation
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team
