We are happy to announce that Filipa Sousa was appointed associate professor!

As an associate professor, she can now do academic teaching in her field independently and in the same way as university professors, and can continue to supervise and assess academic work under the same conditions as university professors.

As head of our unit's Genome Evolution and Ecology Lab, Filipa Sousa's research revolves around microbial evolution. A special emphasis is placed on the diversity of biological systems with a focus on energy and carbon microbial metabolic strategies and how they evolved from one to the other
