„Functional complexity and Applications of CRISPR-Cas Systems in the Archaeon Saccharolobus solfataricus"

On 29 July 2024, Erika Wimmer successfully defended her PhD thesis titled:

„Functional complexity and Applications of CRISPR-Cas Systems in the Archaeon Saccharolobus solfataricus"

Congratulations, Eri!

In her research Erika focused on repurposing an endogenous type I-A CRISPR-Cas system of the thermoacidophilic archaeon Sa. solfataricus for genome editing and investigating the potential involvement of co-occurring RNA-targeting Type III CRISPR-Cas systems in cellular processes beyond antiviral immunity in the respective knockout mutants.
