For her PhD thesis "Physiological & Ecological Characterisation of Methanomassiliicoccales" Andrea Söllinger was awarded the Bank Austria-Forschungspreis 2019.
In her work she studied methanogenic archaea, a type of archaea that has been discovered to playing a vital role in climate change. Exciting!
The award was presented during a formal ceremony on 12 March 2019, Dies Academicus, at the University of Vienna. The award is offered for particularly interesting and promising research of high topicality that deal with an innovative subject and are of high practical relevance.
