An obscure group of archaea boosts discussion on the origin of complex life structures: "Asgard archaea".

Difficult to cultivate in the lab only a handful of scientists even atempt it. Among them is Christa Schleper, who is quoted in the Nature article "The trickster microbes that are shaking up the tree of life" as calling her attempt at cultivating Asgards “the craziest project I’ve ever applied for money for”.
